LEV or Local Exhaust Ventilation systems are designed to protect workers from hazardous dust and fumes. To ensure the systems are functioning correctly they need regular testing by a qualified person.
As an employer you are legally responsible to provide and maintain good working conditions for your workforce, as set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
In the UK, COSHH Regulation 9 requires employers to prevent their workers’ exposure to hazardous substances. All LEV systems must be tested within 14 months of the previous test or and in certain circumstances more frequently.
At Ductec our LEV testing engineers are P601 accredited in testing and reporting of LEV systems regardless of design or manufacturer in accordance to the HSG258 regulations.
During the testing process we use the following procedures to be able to complete the LEV test:-
1: Thorough visual examination of all individual parts for prescence of wear and tear that could affect control performance. This includes all ducting and ancillary parts such as hoods and filters.
2: Measure the technical performance of the unit by checking the extraction at various points of the system using specially designed testing equipment.
3: Assessment to check the worker exposure levels to any contaminates are adequate and in line with current legislation.
We will analyse the data collected during the testing procedures and produce a full and comprehensive report on your system and should your system not be up to the required regulations, we will provide a solution including quotation to rectify the issues.
Where needed we will offer advice on how to keep your system running efficiently.
Please be assured that all our work complies to HSG258 legislation.
